Do you think that creativity in the movie business might be lacking somewhat lately?

I noticed an article on the internet the other day that they are in the works of remaking "The Three Stooges" with Jim Carrey as Curly, Sean Penn as Larry and Benicio Del Toro to play Moe. Good idea? Bad idea? Why redo a funny clic still popular today even with the youngsters? Has movie making lost ideas so they go back into history? Do the movie makers think they should "upgrade" or "refresh" to modern standards? I have seen some remakes and a few are not bad, but clic films still seem the best. What do you think? (Really no best answer here, just your opinions).
