Who are these people?? i need help!!!?

The Leatherstocking tales were written by James Fenimore Cooper, and Natty Bumppo was the hero. They have a little to do with social studies because they deal with early pioneer life and interaction with Native Americans. However, it's important to realize that Cooper really never traveled very far west, and his stories were more romantic than realistic. If you want a good laugh, read Mark Twain's essay on the Leatherstocking tales. He points out many examples of Cooper's ignorance of life in the wilderness.
